Default Eg hatch electrical problem

Hey there HT, ive been having a electrical issue in my 94 hatch si. Okay here it goes. Everytime I have the car on and I turn my headlight **** once, my dash comes on and everything is normal, but when I turn it once more to turn my head lights on, my clock, dash, ac lights, all are dim... I have a after market radio in my car and my dash fuse blew everytime And I fixed that tho, the illumination wire was bare so i tapped it off with electric tapeand the fuse didnt blow and my radio was fine, any help is aawesome! And i did do my research and all I found was "fuses" i already swapped out ALL my fueses... Also i can post pics of anything you guys need to see!

If the fuse still keeps blowing, there's a short/grounded wire somewhere. Could also be a bad headlight stalk switch or dimmer slider switch.

The illumination wire was bare on which side of the harness? Is it attached to your deck? I'd lean towards needing a new switch.

have you tried using the dimmer switch to increase the brightness?

if not then i lean towards the switch being bad or short somewhere

Did this problem also happen *before* the installation of the radio / head unit?

I am pretty sure the clock is suppose to dim when the head lights are turned on. What type of head unit did you install?

^ Clock dims with parking lights. OP is suggesting that the clock dims only when headlights are on, plus all sorts of other stuff on the dash that *isn't* supposed to dim.

This happened before I installed a radio, brand new battery was put in a couple of days ago (my old battery wasnt holding a charge) alternator was checked at autozone and is good. And the illumination wire is the one that is on the radio harness im guessing. I will post a picture, my dimmer switch works fine , I can turn it up and down and I see my dash getting brighter and dimmer, unless its not strong enough haha. Should I change the dimmer switch? Where are the common grounds that can cause this? My radios ground is hooked up to the harness. My radio is a pioneer deh 2000mp

If it's daylight out, then yes. If it's dark out and you still can't see them, then no.
