Default Want to add a factory tachometer to EF that doesn't currently have tach. Parts?

Hi all,
I'm helping a friend with a lower end civic that only has the speedo on the cluster to add a tachometer. We want to get a factory cluster from the higher end EF's, but being a subaru guy I don't have any idea about honda stuff.

If I just find a cluster with a tach can I just plug it in? Do the connectors in the dash for the low end cars (I want to say her car is a DX) even carry rpm signals? or would I have to add that wiring?

nope just find a tach cluster and its plug and play. just make sure its the same year group, 88-89 or 90-91. there's wiring differences between the years.

OK so I have a 90 hatch a tach cluster from 91 will work with mine? I hope so because I hate the sunpro BS that was installed by previous owner.

Biggreen- V. momo was right. It's a plug and play cluster.

neps- Yes also. Should hook right up.

I mayself did the A-pillar gauges and put the tach there. I kind of wish I went with the JDM looking cluster though. But whatever. Function first, looks second.

Well the A pillar is not bad that is a cleaner look...I just have the big Sunpro **** on mine and it does not go well with the clean taste in my mouth...the only thing I am afraid of is what previous owner did with the wiring of this set up he has left me.
