Default Cx tranny or ex tranny, Built d16z6 or buy jdm d16b6

i have a turbonetics t304 turbo, with a starion intercooler, and a cartech fmu. the other parts are going to be fabricated when the installation takes place.i was racing a hatch on the highway when i threw a rod bearing at the end of second. I have the chance to build it up or to buy a used jdm motor. A friend of mine wants to swap out trannies his first gear goes out to 40, second to 80... he will trade straight up or should i keep my ex tranny?I was thinking pistons, rods, and rings and getting the motor balanced.
