welding in a bung
i've never welded in a bung before, but based on what you just said, wouldn't you need to radius the bung to fit the contour of the pipe being used? i assumed that you would drill a hole the exact size of the OD of the bung so that it fits in snug, and let the minimum amount protrude into the pipe, then weld up the outside???

no need to set it into the pipe.
if your concerned about it getting the threads all warped put a bolt in it while you weld and take it out after your done.
you generally wont put enough heat into a bung to melt it away though for most automotive uses.
ive only done a few and it seems im either hit or miss with the threads...seems like the stainless egt bungs was the easiest but it was also thinner wall to the threads so maybe its just me.
thanks
thanks
maybe you're talking about , making the bung concave to fit the pipe? then run a tap through it. But you shouldnt be getting close to the threads when welding. If you are you're using too much heat, go down in filler size if having that type of problem.
