what clutch/pressure plate are you guys using?
I know this topic has been beaten to the ground. There is way to many posts and they all say something different, its pretty overwelming. I need a new clutch my centerforce dual friction has messed up the main shaft bearing (the car does not want to go into gear) I am assuming no way to really tell with out pulling the trans off. So i need a clutch that will pull pretty hard but not screw up any bearings in the transmission. Trying to get into road racing pretty soon so i want something that can handle that abuse. Thanks

the large ball bearings on the main shaft and the countershaft. I was told the centerforce dual friction grabs so hard it can cause a "shock" or bad vibration on the main shaft and the countershaft causing these bearings to go bad. Muffler bearings are still good thank god they are a bitch to get to
Mainshaft? You mean crankshaft?
Countershaft? You mean balancing rods?
Need a translator.
Reason I'm asking is there are no ball bearing on either. If youre talking axles...yeah. Just trying to decipher what you mean.

sorry can't think of any way of explaining it i am looking at the diagram right here and there is a ball bearing on the main shaft of the transmission and a ball bearing on the counter shaft. I am assuming it is these bearings. I was told by a dude at a transmission shop and he was talking about the same bearings. oh well i am goin in there tomorrow to talk to him i will ask if he was talking about these bearings.
Anyone here install it themselves? If so how hard is it (with help from helms of course)? I think mine is going out and I might attempt it.
are you talking about the pilot bearing??? thats the only bearing in that region (besides the throwout bearing) i can think of. The transmission input shaft slides into it. Its inside a recess of the crankshaft. Its not a ball bearing unit though.. it uses needle bearings. what it does is keep the input shaft of the transmission centered and play-free.. so to speak.
edit: do Accords even have a pilot bearing or bushing???? I dont remember its been a long time.... I looked on hondaautomotiveparts.com and cant find one. I'm pretty sure they dont. I don't remember putting one in my car from the clutch kit when i swapped 3 years ago.
if you bust up your pilot bearing (if so equiped) you'll hear a howl etc ... its not too pretty. it would also allow the inputshaft to wobble causing some severe tranny fuckery.

i am just confusing everyone so i give up i am looking at my helms right here and i would show everyone what i am talking about. This is for an h22 the sections i am looking at are 13-18 and 13-23. If any one has a helms for a prelude check it out and explain what i can not. It doesn't matter anyway i just wanted clutch info. Sorry for the confusion
