Default Shifter Bushings

Hey guys,

So I got an S80 tranny from a itr and I thought it shifted relatively smooth until I drove my friend's STI. His tranny was like butter and he said it was because of different shifter bushings. Is it true that shifter bushings can make that big of a difference? And where would I buy some from? I found some online for 20$ but shipping was 35$ (I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada) so I wasn't exactly too excited about that.

Thanks!

Shifter bushings can help with shifting. but aftermarket bushings are usually stiffer than stock, leading to a notchier, more mechanical feel. It's possible that your transmission is worn, but there is always going to be some "feel" in the transmission.

You're friend's STI probably feels smoother because it's a sloppier cable-driven shifter. The shifter is more isolated so you won't feel as much feedback from the transmission.
