Already ran a search and there are no threads regarding my specific question about the heat shield thanks:
Hi everyone, I picked up a new Igniter unit kit today 06302-PT2-000 to fix my bouncing tach when i'm driving around town and on the freeway and was wondering if I need to purchase a heat shield? i've read online that you need to purchase a new heatshield if you are replacing an old Igniter? this sounded totally weird to me. Please advise if you installed one before on your car to fix this tach issue. trying to install this tonight before I head to the track on saturday,
I have PM'ed Tyson (the EF expert) but afraid he won't get back to me on time as I'd like to install this tonight!
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks!

No need to replace that.
Just clean it and reuse.
New heat sink paste (I use computer CPUs paste)
Weird - where do they suggest to replace that?

ive never replaced the heat shield. not even sure what part that would be.
bad contacts are also a cause for bouncy tach. just fiddling with the spade connectors can make it work ok again.
but best to just replace the ignitor.
be careful with the phillips screws. they are easy to strip.
and please dont IM me technical questions. i have my reasons.

Thank you Tyson and 4DrEF for your replies. Tyson it won't happen again regarding the PM, sorry. For reference here is a link to the heat sink and under the notes below it says
"This heat sink is required when installing updated igniter #06302-PT2-000 on vehicles that are still equipped with the original igniter."

That's a Accord/Prelude ignitor in your second link.
First link doesn't work.
It could be that the aftermarket manufacturer put the holes in the wrong place or maybe an improvement was made so the the holes moved and a new heat sink is now required.
