Default to buy or not to buy

I'm considering buying my friends 87 crx si. I drove the car when he first bought it, and I liked it right then and there. Plus for $600 it was a deal. It needs a water pump, timing belt, and maintenence. Other than that, I think its a pretty decent go kart for $600.

My question to everyone is....as a car gets older, will it be harder to find parts? If I do buy this car Im gonna put a B20 with A/C in that car. Im just wondering if its worth it anymore. Many of you own CRXs or hatchbacks, so Im sure you can relate to this.

Don't take my word for it, but I'm not sure if a B20 will fit in an 87 Si. Though I might recall someone on this board having it done, terrible terrible memory I got. I know that you won't be able to fit AC in there though. 600 is a good price for that car though

get the car!!! i got a 86si!!! i paid 500$!!! the front end was kinda jacked, well the front right. you can get the b20 in there but it's going to be hard!! lots of custom weldin. And about the AC lol lol you can kiss that good by all most with any swap. I would go with a b16a or a b18 i just got my b18 in my 86si it's a verrry tight fit let me tell you that.. now working on getting the $ for nos shot and turbo !! happy swapin!!! hat ever you choose i think you will be happy!! there really lite cars!! and there fast even with the stock motor, least mine was. thats y i kept my stock ew3 motor. i would keep all of your stock parts. they come in handy if you half to smog

I was considering the B20 swap because I think I've seen a motor mount kit for it at http://www.placeracing.com . The site is down right now, but I'll check it out later when it's up agian. As far as A/C, the car doesnt have A/C now so its no big deal. Thanks for the replies everyone.

One last question, how is the aftermarket for the 87 crx si's?

if you can find it, it's normally a lot of pure-racing parts and such.. this car is used heavily in SCCA solo 1 and 2 nationals..
