alternator problem
my alternator went out and its not giving off any power. Someone told me that i could be a fuse. Does the alternator have a fuse? please email me at Junior_50@hotmail.com
I'll say just change it if it over 100000 miles...
How difficult would it be for me to swap mine out myself with just basic hand tools ?
I DO have a Haynes manual.. but have never done it before.
I guess I just have to loosen the belt and unbolt it ? Put it back on the reverse I took it off ?

I just found a decently priced high output one for $179.

i'd rather just pull a complete OEM Denso (or Hitachi - whatever) unit out of the junkyard or a dismantler from a lower mileage car.

WAG: I would just buy a new/remanufactured unit, if its not the fuse.
ESCOBAR: Does the high current come with a pulley? If not, it will be very easy to change. Just loosen the adjustment bolt, remove the belt and wires, the take the other bolts out and swap the new one in.
If it doesnt come with a pulley, you'll need to put yours (original) on it.

just take to to advance auto or some place like that. I work there and have to do that crap all the time. Takes all of a minute if that. With an impact gun of course
if it has more than 100,000 miles get a remanufactured one from autozone lifetime war. i got mine for my car for 100 + tax. including the trade in of your old alternator. all you need are some good socket wrenches and a torque wrench.
