Not sure what your looking for but for the most part any d series engines are for economy driving. Not much potential in them unless you drop lots of money and they still underpowered compared to the later series engines. Nothing wrong with them I have a d16a6 in my 90 civic Si. And congratulations on your car im sure you will enjoy driving it. Very enjoyable car to drive

On the main page, above the list of everyone's posts, there is the best collection of info in the links called "stickies". Browse throught the "stickies" and click each link that sounds interesting to you.

Just like the last post said, they are very economical, but with some stout cash, you can make them peppy. Best bet for SPEED is a super-expensive ground-UP turbo build setup, but it would be cheaper to drop in a b-series motor (see stickies for all the performance upgrade options.)

What part of LA are you from?

Thanks for the time and info. Ive actually asked around about turbocharging that motor but im still thinkin about it. Read some threads on here about people who turbocharge without tuning...kinda shocking lol ...but any suggestions on turbo kits?? Kinda lookin for durability and reliability over speed. Dont wana be tossing around rods and stuff, and if I do decide to add a turbo, does everything need to be swapped out, as if i was doing an engine swap?

Im located kinda south of la, where the 710 and the 105 meet.

Before you do anything, figure out what you end result goal is.
It is much easier, and realistic, to figure out what you need this way.

And what your budget it. Sometimes, especially what your budget is. Even if you are given a free turbo setup, I wouldn't try it without $1k saved up for tuning and buying random parts. That's if you choose to skip any internal blockwork to prep the motor for the extra performance it will have to put out.

I always prefer taking a complete 100% motor and swapping it into a car. That eliminates the need for costly enginework, engine parts, and tuning a custom build.

If you just want something reliable and faster, I'd suggest finding a boltin swap. For example:

Prelude H22 motor into an Accord (like mine)...or
Nissan Skyline RB20DET motor into a Nissan Hardbody pickup (like mine) :D

Wiring and knickknack motor mount/drivetrain work is usually wayyyyy cheaper than building or turbo'ing/tuning an engine. Find a motor that performs how you want and that will bolt in pretty easily.
