Default OBD0 Dizzy wiring issue

Hey guys,

I'm making a harness for my OBD0 B16A and after I cut the OBD0 plug off the dizzy (I should'nt have jumped the gun) I realise the wires into the dizzy aren't properly coloured.

The wiring diagrams do not match up at all, what I've got are a blue and black/yellow out the top and 3 whites, 2 white/blues, a lt-blue/yellow and a lt-blue out the bottom.

This isn't what the diagram says it would be at all. I started taking the dizzy apart to see what goes to where, but that isn't going anywhere since I can't trace the wires (they're buried behind torx screws that I can't remove without stripping). I can see the 3 sensors and the ingiter unit, and have the coil removed. See pics below.

So which wires go to where? I need to know which is the CYL sensor (to C1 and C2), the TDC sensor (C3 and C4), the CRANK sensor (B10 and B12), as well as the igniter and the tach wires.

Pics:

Sensor view and wires coming off the top. I know the black/yellow is power.

Wires off the bottom.

Please help! In the meantime I'm going to start poking around with my multimeter.

So far I've found the power, tach and igniter wires with the multimeter. I've also paired the 6 sensor wires off. Now I need to know which sensor is which, and which wires are P and which are M (labels used in the diagrams)

There are 3 trigger wheels, from closest to engine out:
1) half raised, half down
2) 4 peaks evenly separated
3) 16 teeth

I believe 3 is the crank wheel, 2 may be the TDC wheel, and 1 may be the CYL wheel but I'm not quite sure. Any input?

Also update on the colours, now that I have them under better light. These are the pairs:
white and peach
white/blue and peach/blue
lt-blue and lt-blue/yellow

I think I might have it. Using the harness side pinout from an EF si (B20 engine):

And the Dizzy side as well that I've found (but make sure to mirror and rotate 180 deg, assuming this is facing the plug towards you, that's standard right?)

Also assuming that the B20 and B16 have similar dizzy's (the white/red on the b20 = the white on the b16). Then I should have it figured out.

Am I right? Does anyone have any input on this at all? Or am I barking in the wrong forum?

I believe you are correct. Both are OBD0 and share the same wiring layout. Follow that diagram and you will be fine. Congrats on finding the info yourself, you pretty much fixed your own problem.

Thanks,

This is on assumption though. I'm worried I might have the CYL and TDC wires mixed up. Because I don't know what convention those diagrams are using.

Hmmm, now that's something that I can't help with, considering that your wires are a different color. Trial and error may be your best bet.

This one offers completely contradictory information as well:

The ones in my previous post set the CRANK sensor to be peach(orange) and white, regardless of convention, but this one says other wise.

EDIT:

Silly me, I should have looked at the wiring diagrams again, after I found out that there was peach/orange wires (orange is a stretch... lol). Now the diagrams add up to what's on the dizzy (except for the blue and the blue green, but that's obvious). I'll post a final answer tomorrow.
