Default 94 honda accord

94 Honda accord. Cel code 714. Will this cause my engine to miss/sputtered so bad that it makes me scared my engine will blow? Just put new plugs and wires on recently. Was told it may be o2 sensor, but it could be anything as far as I know. Runs fine sometimes the screws up again. Please help. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

If u go to autozone they'll read the code n tell u what it might be for free. Other than that check ur spark plugs n wires dist. Etc.

He can't go to Autozone to get an OBD1 checked. Those dudes at Vatozone will be clueless as to why his car doesn't have a DLC. Lol. He's got a code flasher for an older car that has a two pin connector. You jump them, your CEL flashes only so many times to tell you what you have. You then get online and search what the code means.

Thank you for the replies. I checked my codes by jumping the male connector. It flashed 7 times first. Then 1 long flash. Then flashed 4 times. Says idle air control valve. Checking and code in the morning because it's staying on as well. I am a female and watched a video on how to clean the iacv but I am getting boyfriend to do that in the morning because I don't want to mess things up worse than they are. A new iacv is $200 and I only paid $500 for the car. If that end up fixing it for the moment I will buy a new one asap. Such a little part but costs too much until we get paid. So glad to have found this forum.

Nice to see a female without the "Its a car, its too complicated" point of view. If your IACV is shot you can get one for about $10.00 from a junkyard that will 99.99% work perfectly fine.

I believe you are misreading the MIL code or pulling multiple codes. there is no 714. either 14 IAC - 74 misfire cyl4.

your IAC only has an effect at idle. if your engine acts up while not idling, it is not the culprit. it will also only change the speed of the engine(like you are pressing the gas pedal in park). if you are hearing awful noises from your engine a misfire is much more likely.
