i dont have stickers on it, no VIN # , the tranny have a hidden code or something. i jsut wanna know if my tranny is gsr or ls , my tranny is hydro
There is often a stamp on the transmission case, visible if you look straight at it from the engine bay.
Otherwise the only way to know without taking it apart is to see what rpm you are at on the highway. If 70 mph has you at 3000 rpm it's an LS transmission. If you are at 3500 rpm it's a GSR transmission. Of course this goes out the window if the transmission has custom gearing.

cant bcs i buy this tranny for a h2b conv and i didnt start on my projetc so that my question, the tranny case have a hidden code ?
94-01 gsr = s80 or y80
94-01 ls = s80
92-00 sir2 = s80 or y80
95-97 jdm itr & 97-01 usdm itr = y21 , y80, s80 or s4c
With those codes stated would be hard to tell without the vin.
If there is no vin tag the only way to tell before buying is to open it up and count the teeth...
Only way to tell without opening and just biting the bullet and hoping the seller is legitimate, would be install and note mph vs rpm
There is no "hidden" code....

Slide a axle in one side and mark 12 o'clock on the axle. Slide a clutch disc on the input shaft and mark 12 o'clock.
Rotate the input shaft 4.4 times, if the mark on the axle is at 12 o'clock again after you rotated the input shaft, its got a 4.4 fd.
If it falls short of 12 o'clock, it has a 4.266 fd.
4.4 fd = gsr
4.266 = ls
