2001 Accord SRS issues
This is my first post to the forum.
I am used to working on Honda ATV’s but have never owned a Honda car. I recently bought a used 2001 Accord to use as a daily driver in order to save on fuel instead of driving my Tundra.
I found a good deal on a 2001 accord from Ontario. When I took it to get the mandatory Our of Province Inspection it failed on a number of issues. It needs a ball joint, a tie rod end, rear caliper etc..all minor repairs I can do myself. The one thing that is stumping me is the diagnostic cannot communicate with SRS system.
After doing some troubleshooting I have found the following items:
The seats in the car are not the ones it came with. The car came with heated leather power seats with side airbag sensors. For some reason a previous owner swapped out OEM seats with heated power leather seats from an older Accord without the side airbag sensors. The airbag wires are just left unhooked.
I though this should light up the SRS light on the dash but the light does not come on when the car starts. Actually it never comes on. I dismantled the dash and the instrument cluster to make sure the SRS bulb is good. It is fine.
I pulled the fuse for the SRS system and the car still starts. I thought there may be a failsafe system in the car that would disable it if the fuse was gone but it starts fine. I cannot find any evidence of a little resistor in line to fool or bypass the SRS system anywhere.
I pulled the console out and the SRS module is the original one and looks as if it were never tampered with.
At this point I have found a set of power heated leather seats with SRS sensors in them at a local auto wreckers. I’m gambling that if I hook up these seats, along with the yellow sensor wires it may solve this issue….Any thoughts?
Sorry for the Long winded first post but hopefully someone on here has some experience with a similar issue and can give me some info.

So. the saga continues
I purchased the seats mentioned above with the side airbag sensors in them and installed the saets.
Now my side airbag light in the instrument cluster lights up and goes off when I start the car but I still do not get an SRS light coming on...
Any thoughts?

Let me verify a couple things. - If the module has failed the SRS light should come on and stay on - correct?
I have checked the fuse and it is there and is not blown
It looks as though all of the appropriate connections are plugged in under the newly installed seats, under the console and into the SRS module iteslf.
