Default 1/8 mile run.

(Just wanted to share with you all)

Well my second time out with my first build. Really built car for Street and AutoX, just wanted to try it at the strip.

Ran at Mooresville Drayway, Track was not really prepped that good.

(93 Coupe, B20 VTEC, 11.5 compression (so running 93 oct), 225/45/15 Nitto's)

Ran a 8.22 at 88.9 mph on street tires, 60ft stunk at 2.0. (I know R/T stinks, was just tryin to get use to car) Track was still cool (temp was in low 40's or so)Name: Selling Stuff 001.jpg

Hope to try the 1/4 (ZMax) when I have time. Hope the track is prepped.
I know I really just need some slicks!

It is a FUN ride!

to compare I have a 94 integra 4 door COMPLETLY stripped (skined doors, no windows, no sound deadning, dash etc...) I leave it at the track it's my 1/8th mile fun car. All I have is a p30 manifold on a worn b18b with a phearable chip and ran a best of 8.87 and usually consistant 8.9, on worn street tires (I leave the line at 2000 rpms...) so I think you made a great time!!

Sounds like you have a FUN car!

I launch at around 2200-2500 rpm. Still spin some and have to ease into 2nd and still spin a lot.

I hope to maybe get 8.0-8.1 at around 90mph with some more seat time and a warmer/better prepped track.

Thanks for sharing your info. I enjoy seeing others setups and times.

I know its a lot of fun building/driving a car that "you" build for "you"! If you know what I mean.

I have no idea about the weight, I am guessing around 1800lbs. I can easily lift the rear of the car by myself. About power, I would say it stays around the same as the factory 140hp considering it has 310 000kms and burns around 1 litre of coolant per night (about 20 runs) and a lot of oil too. I leave my passenger seat there since strangely I get better times with it (better weight distribution on front tires-better traction) Here are some pictures

http://www.montrealracing.com/wp/wp-...15/ase0023.jpg

http://www.montrealracing.com/wp/wp-...12/ase0292.jpg

Feels great to beat much more powerful cars with a 500$ setup (including price of the car) and very frustrating for others hahaha This summer I plan on lowering the front to get some more weight up front and less positive camber and getting better tires (I have 8 year old falken 512 with no thread left), hopefully I can get down to around 8.7 secs maybe less.

I think 8 flat is easily achievable for you with better traction and maybe a bit of weight reduction. If you have an open diff you can try lowering the passenger tire pressure a little more than the driver side since there is less weight on passenger side, I know it helped for me. Keep us updated!

Yea, from your pictures (vtec8200) I would say your gutted! nice!

I gutted most of my car, carpet, rear seats and all plastic in the back. Still have heat, stereo, and heavy 07 SI seats. Plan on gettin some Sparco seats (hold me in better/lower/lighter) and back half cage for starters (want to do some AutoX)

I still drive on the street as my "FUN" car on nice days. So really can't gut to much more. Plus I added weight with: bigger brakes front & rear, braces (ASR w/24mm bar and stock front bar) and FullRace traction bar.

I do have LSD, just need better traction. Hope maybe next time out will be warmer and better track prep.

Thanks "AllMtrRex" for the info.

I was thinking about getting some 22", but I will look into some 23". My problem is I don't want to raise the front to clear the slicks. I'm not slammed, just a good ride height (I think).

22" slicks are better for you power level. I just purchased M&H (only brand i would recommend for true slicks) 23" for my stock internal gsr which I am about to boost to about 300ish in my 94 vx chassis. I think my car with me is probable close to your weight. I am also building my hatch for road racing. But due to only having drag strip near me, that's all I have been able to experience. My best at the 1/8 was a 9.2 w/1.7 60ft on z1 starspecs. I also had a distributor problem and have not been out again since fixing it. My reaction time is usually 7/100's of a second or less (.07). One thing One thing i have learned to do is when I see that second yellow light, I pause for a split second and take off before the third light lights up which has helped lower my reaction time drastically from the first few times I have gone to the track. Do you have a build thread? I would be interested to check it out. There is a link to mine in my sig if you are interested in mine.

Also if you find out 23" slicks happen to be better for you then don't be concerned about having to raise the car. My 205/50/15 starspecs are 25.1" tall and I currently run with a tight finger gap all around.

"speedjunkie g35"

Thanks for the insight. Here is a link to my engine build link https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...583606&page=47 (sorry, best I have).

Like your build thread. Looks like a good fun build.
Wish I had started a thread like yours. Mine has been a on/off again build.

Well got some slicks.
Ran at Cosmo Motors Shootout at Farmington Dragway. Was my 1st time ever on slicks and on "PRO" tree. MAN was it different leaving on 2 step and slicks!

My best times:

60ft 1.65
1/8 7.87
mph 88.8

I'm car #07

My first time in elimination. Ran in 8.0 class, I broke an axle on second round.
But still had a BLAST!
I know I got to work on R/T.

WOW didnt think it would be in low 12's, guess there is only one way to find out!
Well, ZMax (closest to me) doesn't open up till June, so will post up when I get a chance to run 1/4.
Thanks!

With your tires you have now you should se 12.6-12.8 1/4 mile times. With slicks cutting 1.6-1.7 60fts you should se 12.3-12.5 1/4 mile times. Nice simple setup you got there. Good luck on the quarter mile, looking forward to seeing updates.

Car ran great! Great driving as well However, I still feel there is more left in it. I highly suggest 23"s and a 13" wheel. Possible 7.7s in the 1/8th, 12.2-12.1's in the 1/4 mile.

What was you launch rpm? and If I heard you right at the track, you shifted to 4th before the line?

Well, I can't run 13" on front due to Wilwood brake kit (15" small as I can go). And I agree with you, I think there is still better times to be had with it.(this was first day ever on slicks and launching above 3,000 rpm)

I was launching on 2 step at 7500, and from what I hear getting a decent 60' time 1.65,1.67,1.68,1.68,1.69,1.71.

I was shifting into 4th right at the finish.

I would like to check out your setup next time. (I was just real nervous being first time out.)

Thanks for the input!

Well, never made it to 1/4. Z-Max never opened for test n tune. But did better my time.
7.85 @ 88.8. Still can't get out of 88 mph either street tires or slicks (both are about 22").

I got the quicker time at Mooresville (not prepped as well as Farmington so spun a little at launch). Maybe car is just maxed out??? But still very happy with it.

I love the feeling of driving to the track and beating AWD's, V8's, and Turbo's. Then drive home and get close to 30mpg.
I just got back from a run up in the mountains (off Blueridge Parkway NC) with some friends and had a blast. The car is NUTS! I am soooo glad I built this car. Now i got to hit some Auto X and/or track days. (just need $$$)

Thanks for letting me vent, wife just does not get it!

Default Re: 1/8 mile run.

6.5-7.0psi for the slicks..

Extend the intake outside of the headlight 3-6 inches and add a velocity stack(remove headlight) You only need to do this at the track. Switch back to your previous intake setup upon leaving the track (obvious reason why not to have open intake with no filter on the streets) I promise this is good for 1-2mph.

Remove rear bumper, cut rear bumper (to cut down on drag from air under the car getting trapped by the rear bumper), or install air diffuser in rear bumper. Also good for 1mph or so.

Do not shift to 4th gear in the 1/8th mile no matter your reasoning. (Unless you have custom extremely short gearing, 5.0+ final drive, etc.) Either step up to a 23" slick or rev the car out a little more. 9000-9,300 will be fine in 3rd gear for your particular setup. However, find the sweet spot for each gear (datalog).

Just a low 1.6x to high 1.5x 60 ft alone will put you in the mid 7s. Try my suggestions to help with the mph, cut a few pounds here and there and I wouldn't doubt it would go 7.4-7.5s
