Default OBD II Type R and GS-R Distributors compatible?

I'm looking to buy a used ITR OBDII distributor to replace my faulty '96 GS-R unit, and I'm curious to see if there are any differences. I couldn't get a straight-up answer from my dealer. Also, is there anything that should keep me from installing this myself? From what I understand, most of the price in having this replaced is in the part itself. Also, anybody have anything to say about the MSD BTM6 unit I'm planning on using with this? I'm hoping all this will cure my ignition/hesitation issues. Thanks in advanced!

Nick

Internally they are the same. BUT you should change out the houseing so the distributor will bolt up perfect.
