2009 Civic Sedan EX Auto

2009 Civic Sedan EX Auto
Hello!
We have a '09 civic ex auto and every time we drive to an uphill you can smell like burnt clutch odor. When I say an uphill, it's not even a 45 degree incline! (For all you los angeles residents I will give an example: on the 101 freeway going north from Highland onwards) it smells like someone did a burn out!
The thing is the car has only 45xxx miles..
What do you guys think is the problem?
Any insight will be appreciated.
