95 civic ignition cylinder problem!!
Hello, I was hoping to avoid a tow today: My 95 civic had the ignition swtich assembly replaced a couple years ago, and today when I tried to turn the key, it turns about a cm, and gets stuck. I tried wiggling it every which way and spaying pb blaster in that bitch, but to no avail. Am I looking at just a new lock cylinder? ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
depending how much PB was spayed into it and assuming that you didn't damage anything else with that yes just the cyl would need replacing. Why tho ! it's not like the door lock, there's electronics connected to it(ign cyl).
thank you for the kind words, I was hoping to hear that. My mechanic told me to spray it in there, and I was hesitant to do it myself but I'm getting desperate in a 2 hour parking spot!!! They offer a 50 and 90 dollar cylinder, so I'll pry get 50 dollar one (lack of funds) and I will let you know if this works. Thank you!!!!!!!
Well, the keyt wont even turn to the first selection (accessory mode I believe) I believe it has to at least make it to that selection in order for it to pop out.
no, the key can come out. When the key is inserted, you can push in and turn it only about a centimeter, but it can turn back and come out. I already broke one key trying to force turn it. The steering wheel moves like it should, but its my sis's car, so she wants to get it fixed asap, so maybe she went to a shop already, ill let u know what they have to do.
