You need to remove the center console. The radio will slide in but your also missing a plastic frame that goes around the radio. It holds the front of the radio to the metal frame under the center console.

Much appreciated bro. I figured I needed that piece just needed to make sure, for a second I thought the stereo would click somewhere on the metal. Do you know where I can get that pocket for the radio? I tried autozone, advance auto, ebay, amazon auto bahn, idk where else. Maybe the junk yard! Lol but if you do know a place i would much appreciate it. Thanks

Junk yard.
You might have luck with a universal DIN mount kit, but I think it will leave a gap.

Maybe use bigger text in your post so the internet can hear you better.

You need the plate that goes around the head-unit and it will click in correctly. I drive an 89 Civic, bought a new head-unit and the plate came with it.

If you bought that head unit new, it would have come with the metal sleeve to mount it into the car. It should be on the unit inside that plastic bag. It slides in there where the factory stereo was, you bend up some of the fins inside to hold it in place and the new deck will slide right in and clip into place. I just bought a new Kenwood deck myself and it came with the metal mounting thing.

You need #28 on the below pic. Still available new from Honda or used at a pick a part.

It doesn't mount in with screws or anything like that. I've done dozens of head units in EF, EG, EK, etc Civic's over the years. You don't need any additional parts other than what came with the stereo itself. Slide the metal sleeve into the hole where the factory stereo was. Bend a bunch of the metal fins on the sleeve. This is that holds it in place in there. Then you can slide the new head unit into that sleeve and it will click in place and stay there.

ya an ef has a single din radio slot, therefore no deck kit required. you only need a deck kit if you have a 1.5 or double din deck slot or other sizes. your deck is single din so just pop that metal sleeve in the hole as goldy says

I tried using the metal sleeve that came with the Kenwood stereo. But no matter what its still falls on top of the ashtray. I quess I need the original stereo bracket. Which is #28 in the diagram. Or maybe im doinq it wrong if any of yours have a picture to show me what the radio is sitting in. Or what is supporting the radio up. I would grestly appreciate it thank you.

Just get that Honda trim piece. It will make it a lot easier and also fill some of the gap from the center console.

Like they have said: You need #28 in the picture. Your stereos metal sleeve slides into #28 (and then bend prongs). THEN you slide your radio into the metal sleeve that is hardmounted to #28. Then make sure to reach from the bottom and guide the stereo wiring STRAIGHT BACK behind the stereo. Don't let the wiring "sag" and get pinched against part of the center console frame. If the wiring gets pinched, it'll resist letting the CD player get into proper position.

I just put a Jensen flip out in my civic EF hatch about 4 days ago, so this is VERY fresh on my mind. They are telling you right. Get #28, put your sleeve and radio in it. Make sure the wiring doesn't sag.

btw, before you wonder about this: You WILL need to remove the trim panel that goes around the radio/AC. It is held on with screws.

I don't wanna lie, I just slid my radio straight in and it is held in by basically nothing. There isn't much that really holds it in there.

But are you using piece #28 to hold the radio "aligned". He is missing #28 and his radio just falls out.

Yeah, and now that I think of it I believe it has a bolt on the bottom or something too that keeps it from sliding around.

Yeah, my #28 is held in (behind the AC/radio trim) by 2 screws. His CD player without #28 is like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. lol

ya with the #28 u dont even really need the metal bit properly secured to be honest. mine wasnt for like a month and it was perfectly fine but obviously you might as well just mount it in properly. i just had it like that because i knew i was gonna be pulling it out for rcas
