Icon2 OEM or Aftermarket Headlight Lens? - Accord 2000

Both of the original headlight assemblies became dull and yellowed over the years. I did some restoration work with plastic polisher, it looked better, but not new, and lasted about a year. I had one of the headlights replaced during body repair work last year and I think it is an aftermarket replacement. I am thinking about replacing the other headlight lens since it is dull/yellowed and stands out compared to the newer one.

I am wondering, should I get a genuine Honda replacement or aftermarket? Aftermarket is 1/3 the cost ($50) and I am sort of disappointed that the original Honda lenses weathered so poorly in the first place. Any thoughts, and which aftermarket brand and online shop would you suggest getting one from (if you think it would be better than OEM)?

I try to go OEM with everything but, I wouldn't want to pay that much either. Word of warning, most aftermarket fit ok but, not perfect.

I've found that wet sanding and then a couple coats of clear spray paint will last longer than "headlight restorer".

I agree, I get almost OEM everything for my Accord, but $50 vs $150 (from a discount Honda store!!) is hard to swallow. In addition, the plastic did not hold up too well on the original lenses, so I wonder if they used a poor quality resin and have since changed it to improve the performance.

A TYC 20-5120-01 for $49 on Amazon has really solid reviews...

Look into Depo headlights. They make good lighting for cars. My JDM Depo fits awesome, and many others have them as well.

You might be able to find OEM on Ebay, Craigslist, or other Honda forums. People are always changing from OEM to Hid's or Depo's.

check ebay you can get any style oem or projector headlights.

on a side note i was wondering i got HALO ANGEL EYES projector headlights and i had got a switch installed which is separate than the headlights. they used speaker wires hooked up to the battery straight from the halos of the headlight. i was wondering is this an issue, i was recently told a separate fuse may be better but is this setup safe and alright?

Aftermarket ones arnt too bad. Fitment is usually ok, but they will probably yellow faster than an OE unit. You get what you pay for.

EVERY added circuit needs to have a fuse. All you need to do put a fuse holder between that wire and the battery.
