Default Accord Limp Mode Help!!!

Hey guys,
Im having an issue with my 96 Accord EX vtec where it seems to be rev limiting at 4500 for no apparent reason! There isnt a check engine light, I know the tach is right because the vtec kicks in at 2700 as it should, so im simply just not sure about what it could be. Any ideas??

just because there is no check engine light doesn't mean there isn't a code...check to see if there is a stored code

I had it checked at the local Honda dealership, not throwing any code which would be representative of it running in limp mode. Very curious...

I can feel the VTEC kick in around 2700, right where it is supposed to, and I have had it diagnosed, and the only code it throws is the ABS is going bad. Not sure how that would put it in limp mode.

Similar issue, just replaced the air filter in my 04 EX 4 Cyl and am in limp mode. It's raining so I haven't tried resetting my ecu (removing batt terminals), but I'm curious if anyone thinks the fuel injector cleaner we put in the engine and filled up with admittedly cheap gas, is more likely the cause than the air filter. I'm getting low RPM on start (like 500) and the car stalls if I don't give it some gas. Drives fine at low speeds, but is limiting acceleration when I hit 3000 RPM. Thanks for any tips.

You need to check for codes.
