99 civic 98 engine
Ok let's see if I can clear this up
I have a
99 civic body with the ecu.
98 civic engine with harness
Now what do I need or do to make it work ?
Ps can I just by a harness converter so I can use the 98 harness with the 99 ecu
Hopefully this clears it up thanks

Assuming they are both the same engines (D16y7) you shouldn't need anything. If memory serves, the 96-99 ECU's are the same. It's been awhile since I've done a straight motor swap in a Civic using the same engine.
no a jumper harness will not work. your 98 engine harness will not plug into your 99 dash harness. I'm thinking you could just get a 99 harness and plug it into the 98 engine. that way it'll plug into the dash harness and the ecu.
taking that it's the stock motor for the car

He hasn't said what the shell is DX(with a d16y7) or is it an si(w/b16)

Yes. A DX hatch has a D16y7. But since we don't know what model the 99 shell is, it could make a difference. Assuming you're in the USA, if it's a 99 DX it would have also had a D16Y7 but if it's an EX (si in Canada) it would have had a y8 and if it's an si (SiR in Canada) it would have had a B16. Both the y8 and B16 are vtec engines and would require you to change the ECU as well as harnesses, etc. even the tranny, axles, etc if it's an si shell.
