Icon6 Blacked out JDM 16's freshhhhh

Hey all,

I bought some beat up JDM 16's last season and didnt have time to clean them up. So for this season ill be throwing them on my PY type r.

I decided to do a budget restore on them, they turned out to be very decent in the end. By the way, an industrial strength airplane stripper wont completely pull the factory finish off these wheels, had to get them media blasted.

I decided to NOT fix all the little nicks on them as that would have blown my budget. I did however do the paint the propper way.

I started with a good etch primer on the raw aluminum x2 coats, then I went with a solvent base/clear combo. Three coats of base, two coats clear.

Im in to this restore $300.00. It would have been cheaper but the media blast was $140.00.

I will be throwing these on the car with black chrome lugnuts. I will have to wait a week or so for the paint to harden all the way.... dont want a mishap while mounting the tires. I looked for pics online and couldnt find anyone with black JDM 16's..... comments welcome.

Looks good

Don't want to turn your thread into a lug nut debate, but be sure to use the correct ones

For sure! I am aware of the corresponding shape required for the base of the nut.....

They look nice but $300 is a budget repair job? I would have fixed the nicks/chips/curbs if I were spending that much already.

For the market I'm in that's a budget repair job. Up here (Canada) to get wheels refinished is $250-400 a wheel depending what you want done.

Thanks for the compliments guys.... I'll throw up a pic of them on the car late this week.
