What do these go to? Discovered these when I took my console off right next to e brake, one of the black wires is cut, one goes under the dash and appears to be hooked up to something. Could it be part of an aftermarket stereo or maybe heated O2 sensor? 1999 civic DX

^agree. he says it's a 99dx. But that wouldn't be for an o2 sensor

 

Looks like someone spliced into one of the stock wires badly. (Though if you dont want it, can I have the snapon socket? )

 

I am thinking the black wire was for a stereo and spliced into the red wire and the red wire came with the car but dont know what the red wire is for.

 

is it a red/green wire, if so im sure that one is the parking brake switch, the black one attached to it could be a wire that goes to an aftermarket remote start or could be an aftermarket radio that uses this wire to know if the parking brake is set, cause some stereos have safety features set so that you can only interact with these features when the vehicle is parked.

 

Im pretty sure the parking brake was a thicker dark green wire (My memory isnt so good, but I remember grabbing a bunch of that wire from several Cars at the pullapart in anticipation of doing one of Deschlong's mods)

--EDIT: Sorry, I had to look up the thread and its a green wire with a red-stripe, not a red wire with green stripe (Its the thread for a low fuel sender)

 

The red wire is the parking brake warning light and the black wire was to an aftermarket stereo that used to be installed. I just cut it very close to the splice and called it a day.

 

Yep, cover it with tape, too. I figured it was the parking brake wire - but am not as familiar with wiring colours on 6G Civics.

 

Brake wire. Alarms wih remote start or LCD screen with video.
Traces it all the way and see if its just cut or still hook up.
