Default OBD I GSR Vtec working?

http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/xm...8809c.mp4.html

Not sure if Vtec is working? Did an engine swap and never felt vtec before. I did my research. I got an Oil change for my car recently. The car was practically warmed up already. No CEL. maybe a video will help? From 1st gear all the way to 2nd. Sorry if it's too shaky. I had my friend record it since i was merging onto the freeway lol.

Can you redline it with no CEL? If so, it's working.

VTEC crossover on the GSR is almost inaudible. What is normally thought to be VTEC, are the secondary intake butterflies activating.

Yeah that's what I thought too. But I've been watching different crossovers on YouTube and some are crazier than others. So idk. Hopefully my video does some justice cause my cousin had a gsr and he said my vtec wasn't working and idk.

I have no experience with the JDM GSR. Mine is a 98 gsr running a chipped P28. It is not loud like let's say a b16.

I think i do but i'm not sure. That's why i need a second opinion. i don't have the IAB plugged in because the engine i bought didn't come with it. I'm actually going to hook it up this weekend. But other than that, i'm not really sure.

I actually couldn't wait any longer so i redlined today to 7400. Other than that, it wouldn't let me red line to 8000. Reason being is because my p72 ecu is chipped due to not having a knock sensor.

Why would someone chip for a lower redline? I'd definitely get that fixed first.

You seem very set on that being the reason. How are you so sure? Also, is the OEM cluster tach reading 7400, or do you have an aftermarket tach installled? The OEM unit is notoriously incorrect.

Well without the knock sensor it would put my car in limp mode. And I was in need of my car. So it was either $100 sensor or a $40 chipping kit.

No it's an oem cluster. But when I got my chipping kit the guy said redline was 7400. Idk why he didn't make it 8000.
