Default D16a6 vtec?

I have a 91 si and I was wondering if it was worth converting the a6 block to a y8 or z6 head to run vtec, or should I just swap complete vtec engine?

Definitely worth swapping the heads, people call it a mini me swap, very affordable and not too difficult, tons of info on here on it as well.

This was a very common swap when an entire engine, z6 or y8, was pricey. Nowadays you can have an entire engine for couple hundred dollars so theres really no point in going through the hassle of a mini me swap

i agree, for the difference in the price it's not worth the hassle of checking compression ratios, checking valve to piston clearance etc.

Not worth the gains. Throw together a small turbo kit and make 5x the amount of power you'd gain with a mini-me

i did it. with bolt on's, a skunk2 intake manifold and a baaaaaaaad tune i made 130 hp and 104 ft/lbs on a mustang dyno. now i'm boosting it. the difficult part of the whole ordeal is getting the correct belt and getting the mechanical timing correct. my cam is retarded half a tooth, and my motor needs a 105 tooth belt, the z6 was way too tight and the a6 and b1/2/7 one is still too loose
