hey guys I couldn't find a spot for 89's but found a few posts about them here so I figured it was safe. so I have an 89 accord lxi so its the 2.0 fi motor and I'm having crazy idle issues, when I first bought the car it needed some love in the tune up area so I did plugs cap rotor and wires and it ran great for a while then started to fall on its face when I'd put the clutch in and almost die then come v come back up to idle around 900, then shortly after it started revving from 1000-2000 anytime I put the clutch in or it was in neutral. so I did some searching and found a couple threads on here about air pockets in the cooling system so I bled the system like described in the thread multiple times to no avail. then I found a post elsewhere about the fast idle valve causing this issue if its bad because its basically creating a vacuum leak and found that mine is always sucking air through the port in front of the butterfly and was told once its warm it shouldn't be pulling there but mine always was and if I plugged it it would go back to normal so I ordered a new one and covered it with thick gasket material until the new one arrived but when I covered it it ran normal except it would almost die again when i would put the clutch in while driving so the valve got here, I replaced it and bled the cooling system again and now I have the same problem all over again... is it possible that I got a bad idle valve from the box or could it be something else causing this headache?

 

so I tried a few other things, I also removed and cleaned the iacv and tested the tps. the tps was perfectly in range with .5 at idle and 4.5 wot and cleaning the iacv didn't do a thing except clean all the nasty stuff out of it.
