Icon3 94 accord passenger door issues

Ok i have a 94 accord and when i close the door the picture of the open doors on the cluster just dims and says the say isnt completely closed when it is. Then the door light also only dims and wont turn off until i take the bulb out. What could be causing this?

And or adjust the striker....when the door is closed does it move a bit.

Also, many times you can pull the switch and clean off any rust and re-install. Remember when the door is open that supplies ground.....so if the door is closed and you have "lights".....some amount of ground is being supplied.

Going on memory, that is code for lord help us. Pretty sure this gen had a "boot" over the switch. Gently remove the boot, push the switch closed, there should be a phillips screw once you manually move the switch to close.

Remove screw and "wiggle" - yes a very technical term there - the switch out of the body. There is one wire connected to the switch, remove the wire and tie some string or tape the wire to the body...you do not want to let go of it and if goes back into the body of the car......I hate fishing for a wire .

Once you have the switch out it should be pretty easy to see how it works and the sections that need to be cleaned.....a "spade" terminal where the wire was makes contact with the rest of the body of the switch.

Again, just me but the fact when the door is closed you still have the light on tells me that the switch is not "opening"....remember this sends the ground when it is in the "closed position" of the switch...that something is not opening the switch all the way. Hence the suggestion about checking/adjusting the striker.

EDIT: My point, ground is being sent when the door is closed......a bad or dirty door switch would NOT send ground.
