Default Need help hole in block

I have an f22b2 I was removing bracket for exhaust manifold and instead of bolt coming out I took off a chunk of block, now there's a hole, whats the best way to fix it? Can I use jb weld? Do I have to have it professionally welded?

Ok no replies but search engine finally pulled up something useful so no jb weld for that area gotta price getting somebody to weld it, anybody know why block would have been weakened there to begin with?

You have to be a little more patient around here. You won't always get a reply right away or even in 12 hours. People have kids, jobs, and lives.

No you can't use jb weld on a block. If you can find someone who can cleanly and effectively weld cast aluminum then by all means save your self from buying a block. If not then your looking for an engine or block.

The only thing i can think of as to why it would break the block without first breaking the bolt (happened to me), is it was either heat welded to the block and the amount of torque applied to the bolt by you trying to remove it caused the weakest point in the casting to break, or someone else used jb weld or something else on the threads possibly to hold it in

Can you post a pic.....did a chunck come off in such a way that there really is a hole in the block.....or did a piece come off around the bolt?

I think I'm just as confused as "92" is about how this happened??????

If you came across the hole while you were taking off the exhaust manifold. Wouldn't that be a hole in the head and not the block?

You have to post pictures as to what has happened, your explanation kind of leaves large holes to the imagination....

In that case if it is a hole that has compromised the crank case/block. I would say it would be cheaper just to swap in a good condition used long block. Then again, that all depends on the labour involved in order to get a welder in there to fix it. There are some good welders out there that may be able to weld it in the car.... However aluminum is a very tricky and stubborn material to weld. It has to be super clean, oil free and both pre and post heated to achieve a good solid weld.

Then again you could get some guy who will do it and cold weld it right over the oil and dirt and call it a day.... Then you are destined to go through the same issue again within a matter of time.

With Photobucket you want to copy and paste the Photobucket "IMG code" option in here.

Should look like {IMG}http://photobucket.blahbla.jpg{/IMG}

Not much more to it, had an open end wrench on it and it broke off like that, salvage yards kinda screwed me with this motor
