Icon2 D16Z6 Replacement

Water pump failed recently and overheated my 94 civic si w/ D16z6 engine. Now a rod is knocking. Not interested in upgrading but my experience has been that a good used engine is as good as (possibly better than) a remanufacture. Have bought JDM engines in the past for other Hondas but not for quite a while so I'm looking for suggestions.

Any thoughts on where to buy these days, or other options will be greatly appreciated.

Pick up a used OBD1 SOHC Vtec ZC from just about any importer and call it a day. I'd stay away from Tiger, but just about anyone else should be ok.

94 EG8,
Will the ZC you recommend work with my current ECU? What about transmission, clutch, motor mounts, etc.?

Yes. It's almost identical engine to the D16Z6. The only differences being the intake manifold lacks an evap purge solenoid (you can add one with by drilling a couple of holes and tapping one of them, or you can just swap the intake manifold from you Z6 on) and it uses a single wire O2 sensor (reuse your old 4 wire one)
