Default R dying on me. Need some help

All these problems started after I jumped timing. Car was running fine prior.

Thanks in advance.
*edit. Most people were quick to suggest a bent valve but I have been running this way for about 2 months and no ticking has surfaced.

I didn't read on ITRCA about the jumping timing thing...

How far off did it go? I'm going to guess bent valves then. Do a compression test to be sure. See if they are consistant across all 4 cylinders.

It jumped a tooth on both cams. I did a compression test while the car was off timing. Not sure if that alters it or not.

I'm guessing bent valves! , very common when jumping timing .. More common than not bending valves when jumping timing unfortunately. GL

Wouldnt that cause an abnormal ticking? The car runs fine it just randomly has it moments. Today was the first day it died on startup. Usually it dies about 3 times a week if that.

No, bent valves can cause all sorts of issues which is why I asked for a compression test.

A ticking/tapping sound could simply be the need of a valve adjustment.. As said above by Dave B bent valves can cause all types of issues.... Wishful thinking would cause us to think that it's a much simpler problem but facts prove its very possible that you have bent valves ,not tryna scare you bro but usually jumping timing especially while drivin in most case causes bent valves even by just by simply cranking while parked and jumping timing can cause valves to bend.. That's why the importance of properly setting timing and or changing out the belt as needed is as such.. Have a compression test conducted and go from there

That makes alot of sence. I just got home from work and decided to crank it and its not turning off. A little bit of white smoke though. I tried to listen for ticks and seems like my injectors are ticking pretty hard, (my ear to a flathead touching the injectors). First thing is first I need a compression test, and will post numbers as soon as I get them. I will be changing my fuel filter to see if it runs better also.

In that case I would also pull the injectors and see if you can see a physical sign of a failed injector (possibly cracked etc.) the white smoke sounds like you could be leaning out as well...

pull the head before the valves break. Once they are bent, they are fragile and the head of the valve can and will snap off. Then you'll ruin the head and pistons and possibly even the sleeves.

I feel like thats rushing things a little too much. Im going to start with a compression test. It still drives and like an R its just not 100%. I been driving it in this condition since december (daily driver). So in my imho I think I would of felt the car drive a little more differently everyday if there was an actual problem.

That's just me bro. If I had the timing belt jump, I could not in good conscience drive the car without inspecting the valves.

If you were lucky enough to have no damage to the valves, you still have to explain to yourself why the car runs like **** after the event. Are you sure the cams are in time now?
