Superleggeras - would you do it
Follow the math, then give me your conclusion.
Stock ITR wheel = 15.6lbs
Stock re010 tire = ~21lbs (correct if wrong)
wheel+tire = 36.6lbs
17x7 +45 white OZ superleggera wheel= 15.2lbs
20/40-17 toyo t1-s tire = 18.5 lbs
wheel+tire = 33.7lbs
weight loss = roughly 3lbs
diameter gain = 2"

Would you do it? I would buy them in 16" if they were offered in +45 but they are not so I can't, they are beautiful wheels, just one inch too big but its not like they are 19's!
So what do you all think about these rims, basically if you all think I will notice NO performance/handling decrease I'm probably going to get them. I have not seeen too many 16" wheels that weigh less than the superleggeras.

isnt it bigger rims with lower profile tires will give you better cournering and stuff
but slow u down on accleration?
i think they look nice
go for it
if you are not track ***** then should be fine

Looks nice! I can't stand any TOYO products so i got an estimate with S-02's and the
whole package came out almost $2k. I gave up and I really don't like 17's for the ride.
Still hunting for JDM 16's.

I would do it if I had the $$
17's are kinda big, but they are the same weight as stock wheels, so you shouldn't see much of a loss in acceleration. I think those wheels are friggin gorgeous, especially in white. I say go for it, only downside would be the crappy tire selection in 17" size. If you can get S-03's, then your'e there!

Dunno how they're "played out" as there are barely *any* R's with them. Certainly less played out than say a Kosei K1 or a TE-37, or a Rota as you'll see many more of those on R's.
I got many compliments on mine, although some do feel that 17" is to big for the R, but it handles just fine and I used them for two track weekends at VIR-Full w/ Kumho 712's and they did great.
if you want a big wheel go ...with 16's ...17 s will have alot more rotational interia ....so even if they are the same or less weight ...it still takes more power to move more wheel mass , than tire ....the ultimate setup for performance would be a 15x7 lightweight wheel ...but if your concerned with looks ..then at least try to stay within a medium and go with some 16's
so even if they are the same or less weight ...it still takes more power to move more wheel mass
hehe, nice contradiction.....i'm gonna go shove my square peg in a rond hole
Dont do it.
Your handling will suffer and you will regret you brough them, just like me

I think they are kinda played out to be honest. I would look around for something around the same weight but different from the norm
They are played out? I've seen one ITR ever that had those OZ's. (three now, due to this thread) Want to talk about played out? Slipstreams. (That doesn't mean I don't like them.)[Modified by 1107, 2:15 PM 10/22/2002]
Do this math:
Fifteen inch superleggras = 12.13lbs
+ light weight tire = sicky performance.
Why pay so much money to have simmilar performance, for looks, then that would be rice? But hey, that's just my opinion, do what you want.

personalyl I dun think the supperlegeras look good on a itr.. I think the F-1 Cups look best but I don;t think they make them anymore... but over all spoon or gunmetal te-37's but then hella heads got them already.
I would buy the 15's or 16's but they are not offerend in the correct offset. EVERYONE recommend some lightweight 16's for under $250/wheel. I prefer a white wheel, want to look close to stock and my car is CW.
