HX Just dropped off at Maaco!
I just dropped off my car on 3/11/2013
Here is what it looked like when I dropped it off.
I scuffed and sanded with 180 Grit and removed the license plates and stickers.
I chose Inferno Red, the entire car inferno red.
I bought the car with the two tone color and the paint wasn't even car paint it looked like House paint to be honest.
I took the $899 Two stage paint job[Base Coat then Clear] , He said it will come out like a Factory Paint job with a mirror finish. Total was $971. I still don't have the car back yet. I will post results as soon as I go pick it up.

well it was $299, $599, or $899. $299 Was just paint, $599 was single stage and $899 was the two stage.
I forgot to add the $899 is a 5 year warranty.
They also have more expensive ones up to $2099 and $1099.

Can't wait to see how yours turns out. Mine is also getting painted at Maaco, and I should be getting it back this week. I also got the two-stage base and clear.

For your sake I hope the paint they use is extremely thick stuff or your 180 grit scratches are going to texture the entire car and you will be able to see and feel them all. From my experience anything below 400 grit with solvent paint and 800 grit with water base will be seen on the final product.
Not hating, honestly hoping it turns out well.

Way too rough of sandpaper and you should of removed tail lights, trim pieces, headlights and bumpers. They do A HORRIBLE taping job....but if you would have done all of your own prep work, it would be pretty decent. I've had them redo my paint job once.
^^^ Good point, definitely should have removed mirrors, lamps, etc. or you'll probably have hard edges around those parts that will begin peeling within a year or so...quicker if it's not garaged.
ya you should've used 500 or 600 grit to scuff the paint. 180 is for bodywork. But they will probably scuff it with 500 before they paint as you cannot spray over 180 and have a nice paint job. but who knows, for that price maybe they will.
As stated in the official thread all MAACO's are independently owned. Not all are the same.
I got it today and I'm am so happy with the result, looks amazing and suits the car great Here is a quick pic ill take more tommorrow.

They painted everything even the lips, and the keyhole lol. Oh well you can't complain.

Looks good. I've been thinking about doing the cheap job on my Honda to paint it. I won't own it long enough to see it look like crap again and doing the body work on it isn't all that hard/bad.
Somethings bother me:
Headlights need to be cleaned or 96-98 SiR headlights

You're being negative just to be negative because of your preconceived notion that all Maaco or SprayGlo paint shops are crap. I've had eight cars, dating back to the mid 1990s that were all painted by SprayGlos and they all lasted just fine with the paint jobs. My Civic CVCC was painted by SprayGlo right at 3 years ago and it still looks great.
I'm not saying that all jobs that come out are perfect. But to just assume it won't is just negativity.

yea well, i basically grew up in the world of body shop as my father was a successful body man, and unless you are doing the prep work yourself, which most picky guys do, all corners will be cut. there is no way you can sit here and tell me that a $500 paint job is as detailed as a $2500+ paint job, unless you are skilled and doing it yourself. these "shops" hire monkeys that spray cars. it just does not pan out being profitable from a company standpoint, and unfortunately causes reputable, privately owned quality body shops out of business. the quality is not there. period.
