I have 97 auto accord any recommendation on what fluid to use? Ive searched but no luck, not really wanting to spend a fortune on Honda brand if I don't have to.

 

I've been reading good things about Valvoline MaxLife® DEX/MERC ATF.

Recommended for use where DEXRON, DEXRON II, III and VI, Toyota T-IV and WS, MERCON®, MERCON® SP and LV, Allison TES 389, Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J and Matic-K, Honda Z-1 (except CVT), Mercedes NAG-1, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III and many others are required.

 

You could use dexron, but that's not recommended for long term use. Go with Honda ATF-Z1 or ATF DW-1. ATF DW-1 came out in 2011. My '97 has ATF-Z1 since 2010 and it's pink still. Probably get it changed this spring.

I change the transmission oil to my accord 96 1 month ago. I put honda atf dw-1

and it`s ok...

I think is the first time for the transmission only have 58k miles...

I was scare for the oil change but thank`s god no problem so far...

 

Use the Honda OEM Automatic Transmission Fluid. No exceptions. Do it,.

 

Ok thanks for advice looks like most say Honda, what about b&m? I will get Honda if I have to but the price is ridiculous, somebody needs to make a good competition

 

Doesn't Honda just stick a label on the bottle and sell it as there's?When every other auto fluid has the same additives just different makes.
