Default 90 Honda With a D15 with gearbox question

Hi guys,
My clutch pedal got real soft(easy to push) and now it slips, like i'm riding the clutch.

this was followed by a snap or a ping i was driving and heard felt it in the pedal.

i have a clutch cable no hydraulics. any ideas other then tare it apart?
i looked around don't see any thing broke or undone. i also notice when i loosen the adjustment on the the what i think is the clutch fork there is play. never did this b4 so im not sure if it was always like that.

kinda new to Honda so i am asking.

My gearbox is kinda hammered already, pops outta gear (all but first) depends on rpm/speed ans sometime would not come out of gear. was trying to make it last until i had the cash for a rebuilt gearbox. but now i am getting to the line of un-drive-able
