89 CRX Si NooB
To begin with I am new to Honda's and from looking at the forum thus far I may have slightly overpaid for my 89 CRX Si.
My car has the D16A6 engine (50,000 miles since replaced) with Si transmission. My goal is to "restore" the car to a more original state. My commute to work is 98 miles each way and I just want to achieve the best mpg that I can. (38 currently)
My question (first of many) is how do I find out what engine came originally in the car? I know from the VIN decoders I have seen that it was a 1600 engine but I have since discovered there are many variations of that.
Thanks guys, I have enjoyed reading the forum and appreciate your input.

I paid $2400. It runs really well and smooth. I looked for several months for a HF for several months but had little luck finding one. Seems like MPG would be way better if 70mph wasn't 3200rpm
Any pics on the car? I have a 1990 hatch and I bought it with a swap in it. The history is unknown since I got it from my brother who got it at a dealer trade auction. I am doing 30 mpg and my distance to work is 32 miles combined.
The engine you said has been replaced? I would check all belts and timing belt/waterpump etc...since this will be your DD.
I would also keeps tabs on the oil dipstick from time to time to make sure the oil level is good. I have owned plenty of used cars and oil life is important.

I will put more pics up on the garage feature shortly. I bought the car off craigslist so I can just go by what the seller said as far as the engine replaced. The belts were new the day I bought it and I have checked the oil daily.
