P1359 OBD2 Code
OK, I understand this is for the crank position / TDC (?) sensor unplugged.
But, if my car sometimes starts right up and sometimes takes lots of key-turns for it to kick over, if this sensor is unplugged then why does the car eventually start? If it's unplugged it should never start.

Not all cars rely on that sensor to start/run the engine, others do. It depends on the logic programmed into the PCM. The CPS just tells the computer where the crank is to fire the EDIS coil packs. Vehicles that still retain a distributor will not need the CPS to start/run as the distributor is mechanically connected and will retain base timing. It may not run optimally, but it still can run.
Thanks for the info. Mad Mike. I found this out when the mechanic called me and told me that all I needed to get the car running again was a new starter.
Before I had the car towed-in, I beat the crap out of the starter to get it unstuck, if that was the problem. The starter didn't budge so I figured it was something more than that and other than the starter.
Thanks again,
Brian
