93 del sol s d15b7 mods - best bang for $700?
Just picked up a 1993 del sol S with d15b7 motor. i have 7oo$ to modify it. no swaps or minis what can i do to get the best bang for my buck? engine wise. bolt ons. im new to this stuff. thanks a lot in advance.
Honestly just leave it alone. Put that money towards something else or towards maintenance so it'll stay running well for a long time. There's no use in trying to make these things fast.
With a b7 in it, I would buy some rotas or some very light wheels similar, since the sol is rather heavy. Best bang for your motor would be a z6 or y8 intake manifold and definitely a very light header all this can be had for the way less than 700.
do nothing. enjoy your 700. bolt ons will do NOTHING. i know you're anti swap, but a z6/y8 can be had for 4-500. you could afford a t belt, water pump, and oe clutch kit and be in budget

If its an automatic tighten the kickdown cable adjustment a halfturn to move your shiftpoints about 200 RPM higher to tap a better powerband. Then take the $700 and put it into your engine swap savings account and drive the B7 like you stole it.
Thanks for replys, mini is already crossed because not internally inclined to do so. Suspensions already been done. But the intake manifold sounds like something I can do. I have seen some with turbo manifolds without all the other turbo accessories, is that sufficient I'm power or just a waste of money?
Still a waste of money but since you're dead set on trying to get performance that isn't out there for the money you have then just start buying parts.
Nvm it was throttle body but didn't have an intake on it. Anyways any other suggestions? Aftermarket cams or plugs? How about supercharging ?, don't really see any of those!
The cost of supercharging a D series would be the same as turbo, and is still outside your budget. Nothing, I repeat nothing you do to that engine will increase your performance without forced induction, and $700 will barely get you properly tuned, let alone get all the necessary hardware. If your suspension is "done" as you put it, spend that money on a full tune up, and bank the rest of it.
My suggestion is to just spend some of that $700 on a VHS copy of The Fast and The Furious. With the remaining money, buy a camera with which to take pictures of all of the horrible rolling mechanical failures that are 99% of the modified Hondas on the road.
Post these pictures on car forums with accompanying text that says "UHHHHH, HELLO! These guys modified their cars and they're clearly very fast. How can I get to such a level of fastness? Do I need NOS like Paul Walker?"
For a more advanced level of tune, also buy a copy of The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift and then ask about what you need to do to your Civic to drift.

please take my advice. don't boost the b7. it has limp dick rods, it is really a throw away engine for anything other than d/d status.
you seem stubborn and ignorant. this forum is loaded with people with years of experience, myself included. anything that you slap on that motor will do nothing but cost you money, and be shiny. if you do not want to swap the motor, don't waste your time trying to "go fast"
z6 intake manifold and ex/si tranny is about it besides mini which is a waste or swap which you don't want so just keep the money and do maintenance and pocket the rest

Broo what I would do is see if your motor is healthy for boost than get a turbo kit off ebay depending on how healthy the motor is I would do 8lbs you would be making over 180whp.Bro thats what my friend did when he had a stock ef he didnt have much money so he threw in a turbo kit off ebay and no one at his school coult keep up!
I wouldn't do a ebay kit but that's me. if he shopped around he could piece it together. id only use the intercooler and piping off ebay and that's it but either way a b7 isn't that good of a boosting motor.

U can get a whole car with a d16z6 for 3-400... A cherry picker for a $100 and a couple days in the weekend or get a buddy to do the swap and pay them the rest for labor. Its easy swap tho. B7 sucks as i have one in the civic i have. I payed $300 flr the parts del sol for my red del sol and put the z6 in it. Pretty easy since all the hoses are different sizes so you can tell what goes where and same with the plugs
