Default Engine swap

New to this site
93 del sol si d16 I believe
I'm getting ready for a swap just because my car has 200xxx miles on it
Kinda new to cars so please don't laugh lol kinda know some knowledge of engines
main reason for a swap is cause my miles are 200xxx
want something that'll be faster than what I already have and still have high mpgs
Not exactly sure what my budget is but give me prices

Let me know if you need more info

Assuming it's stock, your car currently has a D16Z6. That is arguably the best D series motor available. Before you worry about swapping, you should figure out exactly what your budget is, as well as what your goals are.

I would say around 1500$ I don't plan on doing anything else other than just swapping the engine

You aren't getting any kind of upgraded motor for that. Use that money to rip apart the motor, replace the seals, rings, and every other wear item. Completely refresh the motor.

$2k+ for one in decent condition. Then you have to deal with the cost of wiring, mounts, shift linkages, ECU, and everything else. That alone will cost you $500 if you do it "kind of" right. You aren't going to get a quicker swap within your budget.

If you want mpg's then i would stay with your stock setup just rebuild it when necessary. If you want hp with ok mpg's i would go b series. It just depends on what YOU want. Good Luck!

lol prob not ... he rather go buy sum junk cheep and the motor is prob on its last leg. your better off keeping your little d series and work with that. your budget is alil too tight to replace parts on a b series. D series parts are half the price...

What's easier? replacing parts on my d16 or buying a whole new motor? To get low miles

In all honesty, you should overhaul any motor before it goes in your car, so as far as difficulty, overhauling your D would be easier.

Agreed. I've got a couple buddies with the z6's and love them, if you're worried about high mileage just put you're money towards rebuilding it. Definitely worth it.

dont listen to these people that say swap. an LS is rated at 130-140hp and a weak 126 ft lbs of torque. the z6 is 125hp and 109 ft lbs . thats not much of a boost in power. you rebuild your D it will last longer then a "low mileage " swap. as long as the motor isnt smoking or and is still in good shape. a fresh hone u can do yourself with a drill and wd40. put new rings and bearings and new head gasket and seals and timing belt and water pump. just refresh it and it will last another 100-200k

Find a JR supercharger and install it. Then get a good tune. The Z6 Del Sol is a good platform for this. Then drive it until a rebuild is required all the while saving up for said rebuild with beefed up internals.

If you plan on building a power machine a b series is much better for hp rating and boost. D series is good for gas and easier to rebuild

You can simply buy a new rebuilt or used low mileage D series motor such as a d16y8 and sell your d16z6.
