Default Can't put car in gear

Hello. New to this site. So if I don't give enough info please tell me. Or anything else
So I have a 97 del sol b16 motor and tranny. Aftermarket clutch.
I turn on car while its in neutral but when I go to put it in 1st I can't.
So I turn off the car put it in 1st, turn car on and when I do it jerks forward. And once I start to drive its a little difficult to put in all other gears. It's like I have to put the car in the gears like 3 times before its ok

Did the problem start after you installed the clutch, or has the clutch been working since then? It sounds like your CMC/CSC are shot.

Are you leaking fluid? Check levels, bleed system.

If you pump the clutch 3, 4, 5 times does it go into first easy?

The clutch doesn't have an air assist like the brakes do. There's no logical reason pumping the clutch pedal would help.

I'm having my mechanic check fluids soon.
And I haven't tried pumping the clutch.

You think it has anything to do with the clutch? Cause I have to like push it all the way down just so I can change gears and when I still have the clutched pushed in more than half way while driving I'm not riding the clutch

Everything you're saying keeps pointing towards either low fluid in the hydraulic system, or a shot CMC/CSC.

Possible that clutch disc was installed bacwards too. IF not the clutch cylinder or rear mount screwed up mounting position. The flattest side of friction disc goes to flywheel and protruding side goes toward pressure plate.

I broke a clutch release arm on an SOHC motor before. It exhibited the exact kind of behavior you'd expect from low clutch fluid or failing CMC/CSC and progressively got worse over a couple of days.

Pop the little boot off the bell housing where the release arm goes through it. Run your finger down the arm as see if you can feel a crack.

easiest way to check a clutch master is to look up under the dash and see if you have brake fluid leaking down from the rod. (which is common for most cmc issues)

If you're just taking it to a mech why even make a thread? Just let the mech fix it and ask him what was wrong...

They'll self bleed to a degree that way. The air will come up to the top if there's still fluid in the reservoir.

Either the clutch master and/or slave cylinder is bad or the clutch disc spit a spring. Usually it's the former.

Problem fixed. It was the brake fluid. It was completely empty. My mechanic fixed it
And I made a thread to get an idea of what was going on to see if I can fix it but I didn't want to mess with anything so I just took it to my mechanic...

Sometimes it's the simplest things. Now the question is why was it empty? Do you have a leak somewhere?

Won't be the only one- adding fluid means u DO have a leak. It doesn't just dissappear.
