If it helps at all, I have a 98 teg sedan, purchased with a hollowed out cat, throwing the code for 2nd o2 sensor. I did the spark plug defouler trick, and it took the CEL away to pass emissions. Allowed me to get the car back on the road quickly, sell my other car and buy a replacement cat. I am located in SE PA

I thought about going the defouler route, but I still have the wife telling me my car sounds awful. Can I ask what brand you replaced it with? I don't necessarily need an OEM cat, but do want OEM fit and sound.

The cat was never replaced or anything, just hollowed out by the previous owner.

Car is quiet since I am running stock header, and stock cat back. Grumbles a little when I slam on the gas because I have an intake I want the stock intake arm set-up, but I don't feel like putting more money into this car than I already have to. lol

Defouler was from Dorman or something like that . ~$6 at pepboys.
