Default 97 engine swap question

I have a 97 accord f22b2 I'm swapping motor in, using same model and year motor, question is can I leave tranny in car? How much harder would it be to leave it in and do swap by myself?

Not really no, besides why would you? Its not difficult, nor heavy (manual speaking) to remove it. Even if its an auto go buy a tranny jack and call it a day. Depends on you're mechanical savy. This is really a person preference question.

I was looking to do it alone and figured motor would be easier to guide without tranny, guess I will have to catch somebody with some free time to help

Just do it yourself. Or just remove the transaxle, install the motor, and then install the transaxle after the motor is in. Honda motors are tiny and light, so it won't be like dumping a Chevy 350 into a truck.

I have a 97 accord dx with a F22B2 with an automatic transaxle. I have had the engine with transaxle attached pulled out and re installed three times. Once with a friend and twice by my self. Its really only as hard as you make it.

Personally it's more difficult to remove the transaxle from the engine if you don't have it on a lift and you have to pull allot of the suspension off to do it. Leave the transaxle attached to the engine and it all pulls out together.

You can remove the tranny without pulling the engine but I can't really say you can remove the engine without pulling the tranny. I just don't see it being any less work than just removing them both at the same time. In fact, I gotta think it'd be a ridiculous amount of extra work trying to.

i agree, when it's a manual trans equiped. autos are a little different. i've always had an easier time leaving those in when removing engines from them.

Mating the engine back onto the transmission with the transmission still in the car would be a pain!

I have always left them together. It is much easier. Another thing that would help is an engine leveler.
