D or B?!?!?!
Well it has come down to this. Putting a new motor in my Eg hatch. It will either be a d16z6 with specs as follows (full rebuild) or a low kms b series swap. (b16a2 or b18c1).
D16z6
crower valves
crower titanuim retainers
crower springs
comp cam stage 1
Skunk2 cam gear
Arp head studs
New oem rods
New oem 0.020 over pistons
ARP rod bolts
rebuild kit
Gates timing belt
s300
hedman header
performer x manifold
etc....
Or low kms b16a2 or b18c1 full swap. (120,xxx kms or so)
Whats the best bet! Either way should be around 2200-3000 by the time its all said and done. The car will be used for mainly autocross and occasional street use! help me out everyone! :D

Even if you put light boost on a d(to avoid internal upgrades), now your output numbers will be approx that of a base b18c. Single cam=economy unless you dump lots of $ to replace the weak internals for high boost or stroke the hell out of it. Twin cam b18c=performance which already comes w/much stronger internals stock. B16 is waste of time b/c has less than b18c for nearly same price. I'm guessing you've not researched much to be asking this q.
I'm guessing not. "What's the best?" Putting all that work into a D-series to never match a stock B18C makes absolutely no sense. And to compare a B16a to a B18? Also makes no sense.
A side by side comparison of the numbers would reveal that.

Not happening. Need everyone to chime in!
Mainly just asking semi build D, fresh rebuild and such or..... low k b18c, b18b, b16a? There will be no rebuild on the b.
Which will I be happier with end the end and be more reliable!

No one knows what is going to make YOU happy. Can you ask a TECHNICAL question in this thread?
Bigger displacement with the most power. Trying to build a D-series for any kind of power is downright stupid.

I have a D16 and I love it. Dump a grand in it and you could have a 9k rpm powerhouse.
Please show me a D-series that you can dump only a grand into that can touch a stock B18C. And being able to rev to 9k means what exactly? Sounds like someone doesn't know what they are talking about. But then again there might be an abysmal chance that there is a such a beast. Show it to me or stop talking nonsense.
with your choices i would go with a b. i have a zc in my ride and i absolutely love it. so far i have smoked every car i have placed it against including my moms mustang which has aftermarket exhaust, cold air intake and a performance chip. so i think i am doing well. but since you have to options that you do i would go b series. although the list of parts that is already on the d motor seems impressive but i would have to see it in the car and on the track to make a proper judgement.
b16a is the best bang for the buck, hands down. b18c is better, but more expensive. a stock ls is a waste. it all comes down to preference and budget.
and also bro you should check your stats.. zc stock is 130 hp. currently running closer to 200. and yes i did beat my mothers stang. but she is in an auto while im 5 speed stick. and remember that saying from the fast and the furious? it doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning. i have out run audi tt's. the only car i havent been able to touch so far was some dodge that was twin turbo charged. (cant remember the name of the car)
SOHC VTEC ZC = 128 BHP
Carb DOHC ZC = 98 BHP
84-87 DOHC ZC = 113 BHP
88-89 DOHC ZC = 118 BHP
90-91 DOHC ZC = 128 BHP
Check your numbers again. That's not even taking into account the amount of power lost over the 30+ years of use. If you're going to brag about beating a slushbox base model, admit it's a slushbox base model in the first place. If you beat a TT, either it was, once again, a shitty base model, or s/he wasn't trying. Let me know when your car sees actual track use, and not just hard parking and street light racing.
I've beaten actual mustangs. Ya know, the ones with 5.0's and 4.6's. On actual drag strips, and around actual road courses. Just remember, however it is in Utah, around here you're still a small fish in a big, big pond.

Don't believe you. People are busting their asses and wallets just to get 160+ N/A out of these D-series and all you have, according to your garage stats, is "a zc motor swap with a ram air intake and a aftermarket exhaust."
Maybe you have one of those crazy high horsepower ZCs from Japan that no one has ever heard about.
And the OP is still talking this B16 nonsense? Unless you're going to boost it then don't waste your time. The B16a in stock form is one of the most overhyped Honda engines there ever was. It also is just a lowly 1.6.
