So I took the top off my del sol since it was kind of a nice day, the top is super ******* hard to get off, you gotta pull the handles hard as ****, kinda feels like youre going to break them. Well, when I went to put it on, the handles WILL NOT go back into place to lock the top in, ive tried lubing them. when the top is off there is no problem getting the handles to move, as soon as you put it on the car it doesn't want to lock it, I can not figure out why. I need to get the top latched back down because its gonna be cold as **** and if it rains or snows its gonna leak like ****** crazy.

PLEASE HELP!

Already broke the handle on the passanger side, any idea where to get a new one?

Edit: just got the car a few weeks ago, have only taken the top off once before to try and fix a leak.

 

pick n pull if you'r in a hurry or ebay,craigslist.

 

I'm not so much worried about the latch as I am just getting the top to secure down. I can remove the driver side latch and use it on the passenger side if I can just get it to latch down.

 

look at it anything jammed in there or is the top damaged if the latches close when its off push down and turn the handle

I dont see how it wont go on I even lowered my roof locks on the car to make it tighter to put on

 

I don't get what the problem is man, the holes where the pins go in Dont seem to be clogged, I just don't see why it's be a problem on both sides of the car.

 

push harder until it closes I have to push hard to get mine to close

I push down and close it I dont think your gonna break the handles and if you do there

they do go on take vice grips to the base of the handle or or take the trim off the roof and around the locks on the roof and see wtf is going on

I don't think the roof is lining up properly or something. It's dark out so I can't do much with it.

 

I have that problem with one of my del sols but I believe it's because the car was once hit on the driver's side and the door was replaced. Probably the panel was tweaked and now the holes don't line up exactly with the targa top. My passenger side locks normally but the driver side goes in a little bit but doesn't lock in with a click.

The handle mechanisms get expensive. Maybe you can lower the back window and pull on the targa bar toward's the driver side to get a little alignment up there.

 

Im guessing it was in a fender bender. My parts sol wont close the top because it got hit and wont latch

 

Just close the latch man!
