this one mechanic told me that hes been doing this to his cars for years .and that it cleans out everything like the cat,valves,intake manifold and so on. i was just wondering if this was true???But he was also putting it in v-8's and supposly it boost your octane up 8 points??

yeah be a guinea pig and let us know the results. or how about using some STP fuel cleaner instead.

 

they make injector/fuel cleaner and additives for a reason. rubbing alcohol i don't think is meant for a combustion engine.

 

hrmm isopropyl alcohol can be used for injection, but i wouldnt mix it w/ gas......more for cooling purposes.

no it doesnt work. i did it in my goped back in the day. all it did was bog out and it sucked ***.

i would suggest to NEVER EVER have this mechanic work on your car, let alone get near it

 

i know of certain chemicals that you do put in gasoline engines. alcohol and paint thinner are part of the mix. it doesn't hurt your car if you do it once every 10k or something but frequently it will make your car weak.
It really tweaks your engine, my friend with a stock b16 with just a homemade intake on a 4 door 91 civic smoked a AWD subaru coupe.
next time the civic was left in the dust.
