Default mixing different piston rings

while gapping some hastings rings today i had 1 of the compression rings be way too big out of the box, .021 on a 81.5mm bore. all others where .0175. i dont want to use that ring. all second rings are .0205

now i have another set of rings marked n50 that has perfect gapped compression rings but the 2nd rings are too big like around .022.

the dark ring is the one that is too big, the shiny one is from the other set that came with rs machines pistons.

would it be wise to just use the different top ring for that 1 specific cylinder or use all the top rings from one set with the 2nd rings of the other set. i guess my primary concern would be if the top rings had different tensions and sealed up unevenly between cylinders...

I am also interested in hearing any info on this subject. In my situation, I mis-installed one piston ring and it resulted in ruining the ring and the rod bearings for that cylinder. So I will likely have to buy a different brand rings and bearing for the 1 cylinder, because I only found 1 seller that sells rings&bearings "per cylinder".

Has anyone ever had "bad luck" with the rings provided with the rs machines pistons not sealing or whatnot.
