^what ??. All the b series are going to fit into you'r civic with ease. if that's what you're looking for or do you want another D ?

how much "ease" are we talking about? im limited to what i can do. if a b series can bolt up with out much modding il be headed in that direction then. Any advice on which B series to get? I just want someone reliable, power isnt much of a worry.

just stating that the ls motor is pretty easy to install, there are a ton of swap guides/dvds u can buy on here that show you step by step. i installed mine in 3 days by myself with no knowledge of swaps

the easiest swap would be another d16z6. any b series will fit with no modification, just use the right mounts/axles. the car is already wired for vtec.

Why are you swapping? Just curious.

D-series are the easiest swaps and if you just want reliability and nothing else then I would just go with that option since they are way cheaper than a B series.

you siad you wanted something with power/kick to it get a b18c1 or if you want to save a little go for a b16 but you'll like the TQ of a b18 better.
Or there's always LSV.

His car is wired for vtec tho so why not take advantage of that. different story if it were a DX or something like that.

im on a tight budget, trying to spend less than $1k on the motor. i was asking about "swapping" just incase there was a cheaper alternative to my stock motor.

the car is auto.

anyone know of any reliable websites to buy motors?

i heard that tiger japanese is good, all their motors are 35-45k

swapping/rebuilding cause my motor is fucked.

Every online vendor is going to say their engines only have X miles on them because of such and such Japanese law. Guess what? That law doesn't actually exist.

OP, if you expect to stay autotragic, another D16Z6 will be the only real "plug and play" option. It's a damn good motor though, so don't sweat using it. Any B swap would also require an auto to manual conversion, and that's no where near "plug and play". It involves cutting and welding at the shifter, as well as wiring. Your engine is also OBD1, so swapping to a different generation D series (D16Y8, for example) would once again involve wiring work.

Also, http://www.hmotorsonline.com. The only place you need to know about.

If it's Auto just put another D16z6 in it... That would be the "easiest" way.

With it being an auto and you on a tight budget, z6 Is the only way to go any other d series with the exception of a zc or mini-me and you will be disappointed. I agree that the z6 is outstanding motor.

The Z6 and A6 are basically the best D series motor available. Also, a "mini-me" would be absolutely pointless for the OP. He already has a vtec head, and any compression changes from a head swap should to be complemented by a retune, which is once again out of "plug and play" territory.

Now he is talking about an engine not doing mini-me I have one sitting in my garage and if you reread you can see that I am referring to the power he would get would be lacking if he chose say a b7 or b8.
And no I have run my mini-me with no retune with no problems and no he would not be out of the plug and play territory since he already has the ecu.

I'm going to guess you didn't fully read and understand my post.

There are two points to a mini-me swap. A) add vtec to a motor that doesn't have it. B) increase or decrease compression for power or boost. His motor already has vtec, so A is out the window. For B, it's a safe assumption that he doesn't plan on boosting, so lower compression is gone, and in order to properly utilize the increased compression, you would need a retune. Otherwise, it's like holding your dick with the opposite hand while taking a ****: It feels different, but there's no real benefit.

The point still stands that the D16Z6 is the most bullet proof of the already bullet proof D series line-up, and there's no reason to replace it with anything else.

I would not spend any money fixing/upgrading a honda if it had an automatic transmission. You're just rolling the dice and you said you where on a budget. I would sell your car buy another honda you like with a manual transmission. If you must stay with auto buy a corrola.

ive heard the "autotragic" names being thrown around these forums since i signed up. Ive never had a problem with the tranny in this car, its not used for racing or anything of the like. just a daily driver, trying to get reliability and good mpg out of it. i am able to do wiring if needed, although ive never soldered before. lol i never thought of the motors being above what they say on the websites but that does make alot of sense. I guess il be on the lookout for a z6 then, if anyone spots one worth buying shoot me a link.

thanks guys!
