needs help 99 accord keep dying on me
My name is Remington I have a 99 accord it keeps dying on me while i was driving the other day, just changed my battery. i brought the car to two different shops and they couldnt tell what was wrong any thoughts???
If two shops couldn't tell you what's wrong, we probably can't either. Best bet is to check all your connections (battery, grounds, to the fuse box, alternator etc...) and verify that they're all okay. Then check your fuses. If they're okay move onto the relays. If those are good check for problems with spark, air, or fuel.
Take it to a reputable place (such as a dealership) or a shop that will properly diagnose the issue. If the issue is that the mechanic cannot replicate/duplicate the problem on a test drive, you'll have to start your own trouble shooting process and eliminate the possibilites that way. It could be something as silly as a fuel pump on the fritz, a relay over heating, or a ground losing contact....Hard to say, really. Good luck!

Do the dash lights and accessories stay on once the engine dies?
Assuming it's not the ignition switch:
•Does the Check Engine light come on before the car dies?
•Is your ignition system in tune? Good distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires?
One part that can cause what you're experiencing is the Ignition Control Module (Ignitor) which is a small module that is inside the distributor. When it's out of spec' it can cause all kinds of problems; hard starting, sudden dying, etc. If you have a really old distributor, I would strongly suspect the Ignitor.
If your vehicle had one of the bad switches, it probably would have acted up by now, but still worth looking into:

My 98 had a bad ignition switch in it when I bought it (unbeknownst to me). According to Honda, the recall had already been done, so I had to pay for the switch myself. But not a terribly expensive or difficult job.
My experience was that the car would die, just like switching off the key... gauge lights would light up and the engine would be turned OFF, no bucking or hesitation, just DEAD. Then, it would restart with absolutely no problem. Replaced the ignition switch and it hasn't ever happened again.
