ls would be your best best bet if your looking to cruise at low rpm. gsr would drop rpm a bit too...

No, keep the ITR 5th. GSR or LS will get you worse economy, acceleration (you'll need to drop down to 4th on hills), and bad (GSR) / horrible (LS) RPM drops/jumps on upshift/downshift(s).

ITR fifth is .848

Gs-R fifth is .787. It will drop you about 250rpm at 70mph.

LS fifth is.714. It will drop you ~600rpm at 70mph.

I would agree with Aquafina. Gs-R is not enough to be worth the effort, LS is too much of a drop.

If anything I'd recommend the JDM ITR final drive (going opposite of what you're thinking).

5th gear / 80mph / ~4,800rpm = WIN

Great accel on the freeway.

in japan the 98 spec has a .787 5th gear combined with a 4.7 final drive. I'm going to go with GSR 787 5th with my 4.9FD.

Yes. The 4.9 fd is super short. Like fifth-gear-at-25mph-no-problem short.

Yes all the revs rise and you can comfortably chill in 5th gear going 40mph and you're good. GSR 5th would drop the revs a bit compared to the ITR. The LS 5th would drop it even more but you'd have too much of a drop for road race applications.
