Need help diagnosing my hesitation issue.
I have a 98 Accord EX VTEC that I purchased 2 weeks ago from some guy in NY. The car is in overall good shape aside from it being a little too low for my taste (scraping in/out of driveways). I recorded a video for you guys to check out:
Now I did a search on here and got many threads so I read through all of them but was wanting to know if the likely cause of my issue is the Distributor. I intend on replacing the plugs, belts and other maintenance requirements within the next two weeks (weather permitting). Also, the car has a cold air intake (injen). I'm thinking of replacing it because at first glance it looked off and the filter looked like it went through the washer machine but I will confirm upon closer inspection this weekend.
Chuck Norris where art thou?

if it truly is an injen intake those are solid, you probably just need to clean out the filter but it's not just a wash in water and let it dry method, you use a special oil...just do some searches...might be best to just get a new filter
after watching the video tbh I'm not really seeing an issue, that whine sound sounds like the injen intake...try closing the windows and make another video with someone holding the cam next to the tach
Any short ram/cold air intake is going to sound like a hoover vacuum cleaner. The stock airbox has a like three resonator boxes, plus the air box containing the filter so they're pretty quiet. My car has random flat spots throughout the power band, but that is due to my half *** EGR delete (Mechanical components removed, stock ECU). I think your intake noise is normal, although as previously suggested you could replace the air filter.
I know the noise is most likely the injen. The issue that I have is that when I accelerate from a stop it sounds like the car is struggling to pick up speed. I'll record another video. The window was closed by the way.
C'mon bro. I'm not fat now, lol. It was just road noise from outside. I was on my way to my daughter's school to drop something off and it was around 8AM. I'll record another video today or tomorrow.

Update:
It snowed on Thursday and was shitty on Friday. Luckily the Gods were good to NJ today because he had perfect weather (I want to say in the 70s). I popped the hood and started to inspect this car for the first time. The car has an aftermarket intake and the damn cone filter was destroyed. When I mean destroyed I mean DESTROYED. The filter was missing the cap that goes over the filter and looked like it was sent through the gates of and hell and back.
I visited an autoparts store and purchased an adapter and a new cone filter and replaced it. The hesitation is damn near gone now. It still has a very tiny slight (not really affecting performance) hesitation but I think it's due to the placement of the intake. When I have more time I'll take it apart again and fix it the correct way as well as do some maintenance under the bay.

Yup. Starving for air for sure. I'll mod the intake on their now (looks like they used a intake pipe and hacked it but it's too long and hits the frame so I'll trim it down and adjust it. If I still notice it I'll go to junker and put the stock one back on.
Thanks holmesnmanny. This forum seems dead compared to when I was more active years ago. I guess everyone went on to newer cars. I still prefer my oldies.

Update:
Removed aftermarket intake and replaced with OEM (used) airbox as well as new air filters.
Issue:
Hesistation is still there and I have reason to believe that it's transmission related.
Observations:
When at a full stop and preparing to turn L or R the car bucks and revs to 3k before moving. It will do this at low speeds (0-25mph). I changed the transmission fluid last weekend with Genuine Honda ATF (complete drain and fill). The car still performs the same. I did inspect the fluid for metal shavings and didn't find any.
This is really frustrating me and I'm actually throwing the car for sale but would like to know what the issue can be so I can relay it to it's new owner. I read this particular year and some others have transmission issues that Honda failed to recall on their part.
Could resetting the ECU remedy the problem?
Could a sensor/solenoid be the issue?
As previously stated the car feels like the wheels spin out and fail to contact when accelerating from a dead stop.
I have also noticed that sometimes when I reach the top of a hill the car will just die on me. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to sell the car is working condition as to not stick the new owner with problems.
